POSITION SUMMARY:
Works with residents on a daily basis implementing programs and procedures, teaching new skills, and running behavior programs. Is responsible for maintaining the flow of daily life in the department for the person(s) they are working with and has primary on call responsibilities to assist with department supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
This full time position requires a 4 year degree in a related field. Some related experience in human service field (experience with mental retardation and behavior management). Applicants must be able to work the required variety of shifts including awake overnights, have the ability to communicate enough of the English language to be understood by residents, must be able to assist, transfer, lift, redirect, and the ability to move quickly. DHS background study clearance and the completion of all training is required.
SALARY: 13.81/hour. Regular performance reviews and raises.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Client Interactions:
A. Assists with daily living activities, and daily schedules
B. Assists with recreational activities
C. Accompanies on community outings
D. Administers medication; accompanies to appointments
E. Safely performs 2-person transfers of non-ambulatory resident(s)
F. Other duties at request of Manager, Coordinator, or Director
Programming:
A. Runs programs as directs, keeps up-to-date on programming
B. Records data
C. Knowledge and use of reinforcement principles
Communication:
A. Maintains open lines of communication with other staff and supervisors, both written and verbal
B. Attends meetings and inservices
C. Charting
Administrative Interactions:
A. Accepts direction, supervision and instruction from supervisors
B. Assumes appropriate level of authority and responsibility
C. Other duties as requested by Program Manager, Program Coordinator and Director to assist in the department as necessary up to three hours per week
Crisis Action & Security:
A. Follows program guidelines
B. Follows Rule 40 guidelines
C. Assists appropriately in crisis situations
D. Acts as person in charge when trained and scheduled
E. Responsible for residents' safety and whereabouts
Housekeeping & Maintenance:
A. Assists residents in maintaining a clean and healthy living environment
B. Assists residents with food preparation and clean up
C. Assists residents with department maintenance and repairs
Energy Level & Attendance:
A. Maintains necessary level of energy
B. Maintains punctuality and responsible use of time
C. Works minimum number of required shifts
On-call Responsibilities:
A. Primary on-call for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
B. On-call responsibilities for those days include covering open shifts and unexpected circumstances needing staffing
C. Is on -call as a resource for questions/issues/crisis regarding staffing at all times (for those 3 days).
D. Notifies appropriate others as needed on shift and fills shifts in emergency situations. Follows up on emergency situations as needed (documentation, arranges staffing for extra days, etc.).
E. On-call days may be switched with supervisors in advance to allow for appropriate coverage when supervisors and/or shift leaders are on vacation.
